Online giving during the September 11 response.
Chason and Jon worked together at Duniya Technologies on an American Red Cross donation gateway during the emergency response. This shared project history predates Zyel.
The work
A team-built transaction gateway.
The Duniya Technologies team built a web gateway for American Red Cross online donations during the September 11 emergency response.
Chason and Jon worked together on the gateway as part of that team, before Zyel was founded.
The public response
Place the gateway within the wider relief effort.
Online donations were one part of the American Red Cross response, alongside other fundraising channels and partner systems.
In November 2001 congressional testimony, Red Cross leadership described online giving as a substantial part of the wider fundraising effort.
The engineering lesson
The public action depends on the whole transaction path.
An emergency donation page has to connect a clear donor action to payment, confirmation, and an operational record.
Today, Zyel designs donation and commerce workflows around clear payment boundaries, failed transactions, retries, receipts, and reconciliation.
